Starbucks

To inspire and nurture the human mind - one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.  This is the mission statement for the company Starbucks.  I have been working for this company for almost a year.  To say that I like my job is an understatement.  I love working for this company and unless I get fired, I don’t plan on quitting my job anytime soon.  With my amazing benefits and weekly coffee/tea mark outs, I couldn’t ask for more.  I have worked at 3 different stores including Kings Island, Col. Glenn and now at the Fairfield Commons Mall.  I have learned about different types of teas and coffees, how to run a store and have gained the knowledge of customer service.  I have learned to be more patient with people and to not take what everyone says seriously.

To Kill A Mockingbird

If I could save a book for the future generations, I would chose to save To Kill A Mockingbird.  It’s a classic take of good vs. evil, from childhood innocence to hatred and prejudice.  Where moral standards about the community and individual conscience mattered.  Where the beliefs of others influence everyone else and being different is wrong.  This book is an all-time classic and should be kept for future generations.  To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books and I love to Harper Lee included different themes, characters and symbols to make her point.

And if I could save another book it would have to be Chelsea Handler's "Are You There, Vodka? It's me, Chelsea ".  Just because I love her and everyone should read her books!

The House Bunny

My all-time favorite movie is The House Bunny.  It’s about a woman named Shelley Darlington who believes she was asked to leave the Playboy Mansion.  Homeless, she stumbles upon a group of sorority girls.  After becoming their housemother, the girls believe Shelley can help them gain popularity so they can gain 30 pledges.  This is my favorite because I love to watch comedies and this movie constantly makes me laugh.  I don’t enjoy watching serious movies and The House Bunny obviously isn’t serious.  The film was released in August 2008.  The main actors in the movie are Anna Faris as Shelley Darlington and Emma Stone, Kat Dennings, Katherine McPhee, Rumor Willis and Kiel Williams as the unpopular sorority girls.  Hugh Hefner also stars in the movie.  Directed my Fred Wolf, the movie was produced by Anna Faris and Adam Sandler.

Technology

In my opinion, I don’t think all technology is good.  We have grown used to texting and viewing Facebook all on our cell phones.  We can search anything within seconds and use a GPS to give us step-by-step directions.  The advancement of technology has made America lazier and fatter. We can do anything from sitting in our house.  I believe one day, technology will be too great for one country that a war will break out, either among the citizens or other countries. Technology has hindered us because we have lost the human connection we used to have.  Wall-E is a good example of this.  Everyone is lazy sitting in his or her portable chair and everyone is fat.  People talk/ make calls through a screen in front of them.  The Disney movie was made to convey a meaning about what could happen.  Every month a new device or version is brought on the market.  When the iPhone came out, four months later a new faster version came out.  America is focusing on technology that we are losing what our country was based on.

Celebrating Death?

I do not like the concept of celebrating death.  Killing bin Laden doesn’t bring back the lives of those that were lost.  Even though I do not agree with celebrating, I do not judge those who do.  I believe we should be celebrating our military, their safety and celebrating America.  I did not agree with the terrorists when they celebrated killing American soldiers.  I feel we should not bring ourselves down to their level.
I was not rejoicing because of the death.  I was happier that a chapter was coming to a close.  America has awhile to go still but the death was the start of something good.  I was more rejoicing that American soldiers weren’t hurt in the mission.
For President Obama’s Administration, pressure is on him and Congress to see what their next move is.  Whether it is the start of moving soldiers out or watching for what al Qaeda could do next.
I feel we did what we had to do as a country.  I firmly believe in protecting our country first then other countries.  I believe we are focusing our attention on others instead of America.  With the death of bin Laden, the government’s next plan should start bringing our soldiers home.  I feel we have been over there longer than needed.

Facebook

I will admit that along with clothes, Facebook is my addiction.  It’s one of the first websites I click on.  I believe Facebook can be addicting but it’s quite harmless.  At least I’m not addicted to cigarettes or alcohol.  I have roughly 300 “friends” because I accept people based only if I know them.  I refuse to accept a person that I don’t know because I’m not a “friend counter” or someone who accepts people because they want to see how many they can get.  I am very cautious with everything that I post.  Even though my family knows what I do, I decided to hide my statuses from them.  There are multiple dangers to Facebook, the main one being statuses.  If the security isn’t set then anyone can view any status.  My friends can only view my statues.  People can post where they are or what their doing.  I personally believe employers shouldn’t be able to view potential employees pages.  What they do outside of the office is none of their business.  I view Facebook as another way to connect with my friends especially from high school.  I can still talk with friends that have either moved away or went to a different college.

Fashion Marketing

For now, my major is marketing with an emphasis on fashion.  I chose fashion marketing because it has a business/ fashion twist.  I get the best of both worlds by doing something I’m good at.  I have always had a business mind and I can’t stop shopping.    With marketing, I would promote campaigns and determine the customer’s needs and turn that into product, which would be clothes.  I believe I have the skills that are qualified for this career.  I am organized and when needed, I can have strong leadership skills.  If I wanted to have a career in the fashion industry, I need to get out of the state of Ohio.  My ideal place to live would be New York City with all the fashion houses or Chicago.  I want to live in a big city full of stores and people.  If I could work for any company it would be Bergdorf Goodman.  Only located in NYC, Bergdorf Goodman is a luxury department store filled with designer’s clothes and other products.  If I couldn’t work for Bergdorf Goodman, I would like to work for a small boutique store.  Even though I have changed my mind multiple times, hopefully marketing is the major for me.
